Holiyay in Chiang Rai: The Beautiful of White Temple (+mini video clip)

Updated: Sep 4, 2019

During the SEA Teacher programs, we did not only teach at school, but also had the weekend activities on Saturday and Sunday.

My first weekend in Chiang Rai, I went to White Temple, or in Thai Language is Wat Rong Khun. The White Temple is the familiar place for tourists because the color temple is white with their exclusive of pieces of glass in the plaster, also the sparkle sun itself.

The White Temple is located on Mueang Chiang Rai District, Northern Thailand. I went there by GrabCar with my SEA Teacher friends (Ferdi, Lya, Sapta, Awal, Vika, Ahbi, Muhlis, Jack, and Miftah). Their dormitory (Ferdi and Muhlis) is near the temple, it's just like 15 minutes by walking. I went there after the church time, yeah because it's on Sunday.

I saw the design of the temple, there are many people's hands, it's reflects the hell that want to get the helping from others. There are so many bells there and people tried to try the sound. The function itself to remind time, and alert something will happen. Back to the history, bells are using for the warning of the wars.

To enter The White Temple, one person paid 50 baht, so I bought the ticket at the locket. We enjoyed the beautiful view of the beautiful temple, it symbolizes Buddha, "The Cycle of Rebirth." The White Temple is designed by the famous Thai Buddhist painter, Chalermchai Kositpipat. If you go to The White Temple, don't forget to bring your umbrella and camera for taking a good picture!
